Relaxing Weekend!

This past weekend was a quiet one with just a little mix of this and that.......
Saturday morning decided take a drive down to my local patchwork shop.....Stephs Fabrics - just for some freezer paper - well - who would have guessed that a couple of extra purchases would come home!....had been deliberating as to whether to purchase Anni's latest book and as I walked into the shop...there it was!! The other pattern? Well, it just caught my eye!

This lovely bunch of daisies also found their way to my home.... to brighten the day!

Over the rest of the weekend time was spent doing a bit of "secret" sewing......

....another book was finished and now "a book that involves the ocean" can be ticked off my reading challenge.... I had not read a Di Morrissey book before - thoroughly enjoyed this one...."The Winter Sea"....it was set on the South Coast - not far from where I live - an added bonus to the story line!
........and a start was made on writing up copious notes for stage managing our latest local theatre production.... unfortunately it can take up quite a bit of time and that, together with working full time, leaves not a lot of time for other more creative pursuits.....but... after this show I plan to take a break for a while..... as with all voluntary organisations it always seems to be the same people that put their hand up!
These 2 were having a bit of a tiff on Sunday as to who had the chair with a cardigan to sleep on... the solution was found with a second old "round the house" cardigan found!
The postman should be bringing a couple more "retail therapy" purchases this week....and... Hayley is arriving from Queensland for a few days (unexpected) visit - will be lovely to see her and spend time catching up over cups of tea!!...I do miss my girls!

Happy Stitching!

My Weekend....

A snapshot of my weekend.....

After the usual household chores and grocery shop started deciding on the layout for this UFO (another one bought in 2009!

One would think I would then be sewing it together on Sunday? But...as the sun shone and the whiff of jasmine drifted over my sunny deck.....

I gave into the temptation and spent a couple of hours reading...
.

...then time to decide on some fabrics for a little secret sewing.....

...... the afternoon was finished off going to see the local theatre production of......

And... yes, I have been working on my (big) x-stitch from my earlier post but will put in some photos later - the amount of time I've been working on it there doesn't seem to be a lot of progress :(
Hope you, my reader, have had a lovely weekend too!

Happy Stitching

Catching Up

Can't believe it's been nearly 2 weeks since my last post! What have I been doing? Well, till last weekend most of my evenings were spent here.....

...... the stage managers desk behind the stage - from where my assistant stage manager and myself make sure the show runs smoothly and everyone is ready on time! Another photo here of my "to do" board before each show and after interval....

I have stage managed quite a number of shows for our local theatre company over the last 15 years or so...... do enjoy it but it does take a lot of time - sometimes up to 3 months with rehearsal time thrown in as well. Am I trained for this you ask? No, it has been a matter of learning by experience! I got involved after my younger daughter then aged around 10 decided she'd like to join the youth group at the theatre....I started helping with costumes, then back stage and well as they say one thing led to another........ and you will NEVER find me on stage!!.....Leave that for others who enjoy the "bright" lights.

The fabric basket from my previous post I gave as a thank you gift to my assistant stage manager - well - the play was "Allo Allo" set in France and the fabrics were French General - also filled it with Ferrero Rocher chocs (sound French?).

Since the show finished week nights after work have been spent "relaxing" with a DVD or 2 and KNITTING.......

Enough relaxing now - the time has arrived to start planning which stitching project I will work on - many UFOs to go through.... perhaps start on something new??
Perhaps my somewhat neglected garden will get some TLC over this weekend?
May even get around to filling in my "profile" so you all know who I am!

Till next time.....

Happy Easter & Happy Stitching
